Countries for visa free regime of entry to Russia

Citizens and holders of passports issued by the following countries are not required to obtain a visa prior to travel to Russia

Up to 90 days in each 180 day period without Russian visa
(If otherwise is not indicated, visa-free regime of entry to Russia is granted for ordinary passports holders; the purpose of visit is for tourist or non-commercial reasons)
  1. Abkhazia
  2. Argentina - Diplomat or Official passport holders would require visa for the whole period of stay.
  3. Brazil - for tourist, private visits or transit purposes only. In all other cases visa is required
  4. Chile - visa free regime does not apply for work and business related visits and Diplomatic and Service passports holders
  5. Colombia
  6. Dominican Republic - Diplomatic and Service passports holders only.
  7. Ecuador
  8. Guatemala - for all passports, including Diplomatic and Service passports holders 
  9. Iceland - Diplomatic and Service passports holders only
  10. Israel - tourist documents or the original invitation are required to be presented on the Russian border. Visa free regime does not apply for Diplomatic and Service passports holders.
  11. Macedonia - up to 30 days tourist and up to 90 days for other visitors. Tourist documents or the original invitation accordingly are required to be presented to the Russian Immigration authorities.

  2. Bosnia and Herzegovina - tourist documents or the original invitation are required to be presented on the Russian border
  3. Macau
  4. Montenegro - visa free regime does not apply for Diplomatic and Service passports holders.
  5. Mozambique - Diplomatic and Service passports holders only.
  6. Serbia - with biometric passports issued from April 2008 only. Diplomatic or Official passport holders without accreditation in Russia can stay up to 90 days. Serbian nationalities with temporary and permanent resident permits can stay without time limits. In all other cases visa is required. Visa free regime does not apply for Yugoslavian passports holders.
  7. Thailand
  8. Turkey - Ordinary and Service passports holders only. In case of consequent trips total amount of days spent in Russia cannot exceed 90 days in a period of 180 days.

Visa-free regime of entry to Russia for cruise ship passengers
International tourists are able to stay on the territory of the Russian Federation visa-free up to 72 hours when entering Russia by ferry (large cruise ships) through the following ports: Sochi, Novorossiysk, Vladivostok, Korsakov, Kaliningrad, Vyborg, St.Petersburg. 
Remarks: Only for persons travelling within an organised group. Overnight stay onboard only.
 
Visa-free regime of entry to Russia for air transit passengers
Passengers travelling via Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport do not need a visa for a transit of less than 24 hours.
Remarks: a ticket of the relevant airline with confirmed seating for the relevant connecting flights should be held; the traveller should remain in the international area without clearing border control; passenger is not in transit to or from Belarus.
International transit passengers whose transfer requires their stay at Sheremetyevo Airport more than 24 hours, can obtain a Russian transit visa at the airport upon presentation of their connecting flight tickets and valid passports.
