Amur Region
The Amur Region lies in the basin of the Amur River and Zeya River and borders Yakutia in the north, the Khabarovsk Territory in the east, and China in the south.
Chukot Autonomous Area
Chukot Autonomous Area is a part of the Far East federal district. It borders the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Magadan Region and the Kamchatka Territory. The Area has a sea boarder with the USA on the east. Population is 49 520 people.
Jewish Autonomous Region
The Jewish Autonomous Region was founded in 1934. It is the only autonomous region in Russia after the USSR restructuring in 1990s, during which all autonomous regions became independent republics.
Kamchatka Territory
The Kamchatka Territory was founded on the Kamchatka Peninsula in 2007 in the course of the Kamchatka Region and the Koryak Autonomous District merging.
Khabarovsk Territory
The Khabarovsk Territory was founded in 1938, its total area is 788 600 km². Population of the Khabarovsk Territory is 9 thousand people, 80% among them live in cities.
Magadan Region
The Magadan Region was founded in 1953. Before 1920s Magadan was a place of Yakut tribes. The Region’s history as a part of Russia begins from the arrival of geological survey expeditions in early 1930s.
Primorie Territory
The Primorie Territory is located in the southernmost part of Far East at the coast of the Sea of Japan. It was founded in 1938. Since the old days people have inhabited this territory: a first human appeared in Primorie more than 30,000 years ago.
Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)
The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is the largest region of Russia. The total area of Yakutia is 3103,2 thous. sq. km, that is 1/5 of the whole Russia territory or about 2/3 of the Western Europe area. The region was founded in 1922.
Sakhalin Region
The Sakhalin Region was founded in 1932, its total are is 87,1 thous. sq.km. It boarders Kamchatka, Khabarovsk, Primorski Territories and Japan.
