How to apply for Russian transit visa in Australia

Official information from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

To obtain a transit visa, the following documents are required:

1. A completed visa visa application form (one per person).

2. National passport valid for at least 6 months before leaving Russia;

3. One professional passport size (3õ4 cm) photo on white background stapled to the specially marked place on the application form.

4. The visa of the country of destination.

5. A copy of the confirmed air, railway or other ticket.

Please follow t the above requirements when submitting your papers. Otherwise the documents will be returned.

Should we wish to contact you, please put down clearly your contact telephone number (office and after hours) in the application form.

Transit visa permits to travel through the Russian territory without stay.

Visa-processing fees are:

Single transit visa

Double transit visa

$ 110.00 - seven business days processing; 
$ 210.00 - two business days processing;

$ 170 00 - seven business days processing; 
$ 330.00 - two business days processing;

Visa processing time starts only after the Consular Section received all necessary documents. Please note that drop-off day is not counted as a business day. If you apply by mail, please enclose a return self-addressed (Registered Post) envelope and add one more day for processing.

Payments must be made in cash, by money order or bank cheque payable to the Embassy of the Russian Federation. We do not accept personal cheques.

After you receive your visa, please check it for any mistakes (passport number, date of birth, period of validity etc.) and, if necessary, return it to us for corrections. The Consular Section will not be responsible for the mistakes, which were not brought to its attention before your departure from Australia.

Fees are not refundable, and are subject to change without notice.

Consular section is open for visitors from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. only. Visa documents are accepted until 12.30 p.m. only.

How will I get original invitation from you? Can you send it to me by courier?

Currently we send documents through UPS only.

If you would like to use another courier service you may order it directly. Please inform us if you decided to use this option.

If you already have an international customer number of any courier service (UPS, DHL, FEDEX ect.), please inform us and we will call the courier at your expense as soon as documents will be ready.

 

How much is the total cost of the Russian visa?

Please note that you should expect the charges for Russian visas to be made up from the following:

  1. Invitation (for Russian business or Russian tourist visa provided by Visalink)
  2. Consulate fee (check at the local Russian Consulate)
  3. Visa centre fee (if applicable)
  4. Delivery fees (if applicable)
  5. Credit card surcharges (if applicable)
